For altcoins, April 2025 looks to be a defining month. While more recent assets like Rexas Finance (RXS), SUI, JUP, ZRO, and ARKM present opportunities for exponential growth, classic tokens like Bitcoin and Ethereum keep their place liveroulette. These five tokens are long-term candidates in the next wave of blockchain upheaval, not merely April plays with their value propositions and expanding ecosystems. If the general market attitude continues to be positive, these tokens could be among the first to soar because of their pricing and the innovations they represent.
Encouragingly, market performance during April 2025 suggests that Bitcoin and other digital assets may be part of the solution (Exhibit 2). In a volatile month for traditional assets — in which the VIX briefly exceeded 50% — Bitcoin’s price appreciated 15% and our market-cap weighted Crypto Sectors index gained 11%. U.S. equities declined 1% on net, with weakness led by cyclical market segments. Gold and certain foreign currencies had gains comparable to Bitcoin on a risk-adjusted basis (i.e., accounting for each asset’s volatility).
California DFPI partners with state DOJ against crypto scams. On March 10, the California Department of Financial Protection and Innovation (DFPI) announced that “through its nationally-recognized Crypto Scam Tracker and a new partnership with the California Department of Justice (DOJ), the state has shut down more than 26 different crypto scam websites and uncovered $4.6 million in consumer losses.” Additionally, “the DFPI has also identified seven new scam types based on more than 2,668 complaints submitted by consumers in California and from across the U.S. in 2024.” The scam types include scams related to bitcoin mining, gaming, jobs, giveaways, and investments.
OFAC drops sanctions against Tornado Cash. On March 21, the Department of the Treasury announced the removal of economic sanctions against Tornado Cash “as reflected in Treasury’s Monday filing in Van Loon v. Department of the Treasury.” Treasury asserted that it “remains committed to using authorities to expose and disrupt the ability of malicious cyber actors to profit from their criminal activities through the exploitation of digital assets and the digital assets ecosystem.”
With a market capitalization of $1.1 billion currently, JUP trades at $0.4, according to CoinMarketCap. Jupiter (JUP) is mainly concerned with enabling mass access to Web3. The project provides a set of tools meant for developers to create distributed apps (dApps) quickly. Jupiter’s dedication to openness and security has drawn a devoted population and consistent development projects. One of the leading causes of Jupiter’s (JUP) success on the Solana chain is its constant airdrop, Jupuary, and ASR to reward its holders and stakers. Jupiter has excellent upside potential even at its modest cost since more projects want to use its tools for flawless Web3 integration. JUP is a great competitor for long-term gains since, with increasing acceptance, it might see an exponential price increase.

These governance changes are quite timely for Cardano. Although its ADA token showed strong price momentum in early January, this has since fizzled. Whales poured $140 million into ADA in response to a buy signal, but bearish trends turned into a full-blown rout.

Cryptocurrency market news april 2025
Before mid-June, there won’t be much market action, with a high probability of range-bound fluctuations to form a bottom. April’s market may first decline, then fluctuate and rebound. For the next two months or more, don’t have expectations of getting rich quickly; take profits when possible, securing gains is the best strategy!
Compared to the bustling March, April seems much quieter. The Federal Reserve has no meetings, and central banks of major economies are also temporarily subdued. We’ll see more continuation of relevant policies, such as the implementation of Trump’s tariff policies and the Fed’s slowing of balance sheet reduction.
Although tariffs and trade conflict dominated market attention, institutional investment in the crypto industry continued at a healthy pace, supported by increasing regulatory clarity (for more details, see March 2025: Institutional Chain Reaction). There are now two distinct trends: (1) traditional financial services firms investing in crypto, and (2) crypto-native firms starting to offer traditional financial services. Examples from the last month include reporting that Dutch bank ING is working on a stablecoin, moves by Mastercard to bring stablecoins into its payments network, an announcement from crypto exchange Kraken that it will offer equity and ETF trading, news that BitGo and others are working to get U.S. bank licenses, and the introduction of a new payments platform by stablecoin issuer Circle.
